TikTok Video Not Downloading? 8 Fixes That Usually Work
A TikTok link that will not process is usually a copy-paste or privacy issue. Work through 8 checks, from link format to browser and storage fixes.
You pasted a TikTok link, pressed Download, and nothing useful came back. That is frustrating, but the cause is almost always one of a handful of simple things. This checklist goes from the most common cause to the least common, so you can stop as soon as one fix works.
Quick answer: Copy the link again with Share > Copy link, make sure the video is public and still online, paste only the link with nothing around it, and retry. If it still fails, switch browsers and check your storage space.
1. Copy the link again from the Share menu
A cut-off or edited link is the number one reason a download fails. In the TikTok app, open the video, tap Share, then Copy link, and paste it straight into the MusicallyDown downloader. Do not retype or shorten it by hand.
Use the link to the individual video, not a profile page, a hashtag page or a sound page. A profile link has no single video to fetch.
2. Make sure the video is public
The tool can only read what any visitor could already watch. Videos from private accounts cannot be fetched, and neither can videos that are visible only to friends or followers. If you can only see the video while logged in as an approved follower, it is not public.
3. Check that the video still exists
Creators delete videos, and TikTok removes some for policy reasons. Open the link in a browser: if TikTok shows an error or “video unavailable”, there is nothing to download. Region limits can also hide a video from some countries.
4. Remove extra text around the link
When you copy from some apps, extra words, a caption or a tracking tag come along with the link. Clear the input box, paste again and check that the box contains only the web address and nothing else.
5. Check whether the video is a Story, a slideshow or a normal video
Different content types behave differently:
- Normal videos work on the main downloader.
- Stories have their own page: the TikTok Story downloader.
- Photo slideshows are covered by the slideshow downloader.
Pasting a link into the wrong tool is an easy mistake and can look like a failure.
6. Wait a minute and try again
Sometimes a video cannot be reached the first time because of a temporary hiccup on TikTok’s side or a slow connection. Refresh the page, wait a minute, paste the link again and retry. Do not keep pressing the button repeatedly.
7. Try another browser, and turn off interfering extensions
If the page loads but the download never starts:
- Try another current browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge).
- Pause content blockers or privacy extensions for this site, then reload.
- Turn off a VPN to see whether it changes the result.
- Make sure the browser is up to date.
Never disable your device’s security features to force a download, and do not install anything the page asks you to.
8. Check storage space and where the file went
If the download seemed to work but you cannot find the file:
- iPhone: open the Files app and look in Downloads, or check Safari’s download list.
- Android: open your browser’s download list or the Downloads folder in your file manager.
- Computer: open the browser’s download history (usually Ctrl+J or Cmd+Shift+J).
Also check that the device has free storage, especially for long HD videos.
Still stuck?
A few cases cannot be solved from your side:
- No MP3 or HD option appears. Not every video offers every format. The page only shows what is available for that link.
- The video is age-restricted or region-limited. These may not load at all.
- TikTok changed something. Downloaders depend on TikTok, so results can vary after a TikTok update. Try again later.
If none of the fixes work, email support@musicaldown.se with the link that failed and the device and browser you used. Never include your TikTok password or any personal details.
FAQ
Why does it say my link is invalid?
Usually the link was cut off, has extra text around it, or points to a profile rather than a single video. Copy it again from the Share menu.
Can I download from a private account?
No. Only public videos can be fetched, and a tool cannot legitimately bypass TikTok’s privacy settings.
Does the same link work forever?
No. If the creator deletes the video or changes it to private, the link stops working.
Is it safe to keep trying different downloader sites?
Be careful. Avoid sites that ask for your TikTok password, push app installs or open unexpected pop-ups.
